Kicking back in sunny Cumbria
Just looking at the last entry it appears that it has been over a week since we posted anything - can't have that now can we? Gill was supposed to be updating you all with some baby news so i'll not step on her toes in that regard. I thought instead i'd kill two birds with one stone; let you in on my present work situation and at the same time fill up some of my ever increasing free time.
You see now that the exam classses have left and some of my lessons are being taught by a student teacher I seem to have quite a bit of time on my hands. Factor in training days out and those occasions when the kids go on trips i seem to be spending a lot of the day filling time (it's like being a proper office worker again.) Now I know I shouldn't be telling you this because under a teacher's contract we are duty bound to whine on about the hours of preparation and marking we do, despite the short working day and massive holidays.
Of course i'm jesting; for one short period of time I have stumbled by chance upon a civilised working day and i'm making the most of it. In fact I was in the pub by five o'clock on Friday night. In hindsight however, that wasn't such a good thing. I have hazy recollections of chatting the Whitehaven rugby league coach as well as encouraging someone to 'give us a song' in the middle of the street before going on to a night club. I followed this performance up with a twenty four hour hangover. The sooner things get back to normal around here the better for all concerned. Although what quite normal is going to be after our new arrival is anyone's guess but i'm confident being in the pub at five on a Friday might be a thing of the past.
As I have no pictures of my own this week here are a few from Bren of the latest additions to his household. As T.S. Eliot says, "when a cat adopts you there is nothing to be done about it except put up with it until the wind changes.” There may be a lot of wind.

And there was me imagining you'd have stopped drinking out of solidarity. Some new age man you are!
You might actually find yourself going to the pub quite often for a swift half when baby arrives.
You will find that, you may take in a pub or two for a swift half when pushing baby around in a pram.
This will occur, in my experience fairly often during the summer months. Babies/ toddlers love jukeboxes, fruit machines, pub lunches and Guinness - bring on the smoking ban.
I am glad you're only confident that it "might" be a thing of the past... Besides you need to give the pupils something to laugh at now and again.
Miceal
The only 'new age' i'm prepared to be part of would be a new Victorian age. Not sure Gill would buy it
Tone!
Ah, those lazy hazy crazy days of exam leave .... I remembers them well. Much better as a teacher than a pupil!
Enjoy, and I wish your exam-taking charges all the best.

24 hours? You've got to work on your hangover management skills!
Cute pussy cats, Bren!

Who is the mysterious 'P' by the way?
I thought you'd guess that one!

All best to you both,
The mysterious "P"
