The fairytale of...
For those happy few who are actually following events on this weblog you'll be aware that if our original plans had worked out we'd be in New York right now. As it stands of course, we are not. One could easily get depressed by this but not us!! Instead we went to spend the weekend in our old haunt Cockermouth. Not quite the 'Big Apple' more the Big... - I don't think it has a nickname.
Below are some pictures of this Cumbrian town that never sleeps. (Be careful though as I've slipped in a few images that aren't Cockermouth at all - see if you can spot the difference)

An unmistakable skyline

An impressive monument

Manhattan Bridge and Cocker Bridge. But which one is which?
Actually we had a lovely time out West. We stayed at the Ennerdale Country House hotel a few miles outside Cockermouth. It was really nice and just the place to relax and put some perspective on our recent changes in circumstance. We went into town, met up with a few old acquaintances and then went for a walk around Ennerdale Water the next day. It may not be a Broadway show followed by a stroll through Central Park but as far as we were concerned it was a brilliant weekend.
On Friday we're off for more fun and adventure, this time in (old)York. Now if I can make it there...

The comparisons between these two wonderful spots are amazing - I had no idea they had so much in common!

It is coming to something when we are using the blog to communicate with each other. Worse still that we're the only ones leaving comments!
